Exfoliation, for me, is a crucial step in my skincare routine. It helps with my hyperpigmentation, scars, and acne, but this has always left my sensitive skin irritated, red, and itchy. I've been researching a lot about products that I can add to my routine to calm my skin and stumbled upon an ingredient called Centella. Surprisingly, ReviewHunters reached out to me to try and review products from SKIN1004's Madagascar Centella line.
The items they sent me were the Madagascar Centella Ampoule and the Madagascar Centella Watergel Sheet Ampoule Mask (5 sheets/pack). The brand advertises these products to contain 100% Centella. Centella Asiatica, or most commonly known as Centella, is an ingredient that contains antioxidants and rich with amino acids. Aside from this, Centella is also known to hydrate and soothe compromised skin.
SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule (100ml)
I use this ampoule every day in the evening. The first thing I've noticed is its texture—it's very lightweight and could actually pass as a toner. I use this after using an exfoliating toner: The Ordinary's Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution, which always leaves my skin red and dry.
Immediately after applying this, my skin instantly feels hydrated and plump, as if I can end my skincare routine right there. I love how lightweight this one feels, and how fast my skin absorbs it. The redness on my skin significantly decreased after around 5-10 minutes after applying this.
Additionally, the packaging feels very premium and well thought! The boxes were sealed to avoid tampering, and the box itself had quotes on the flaps. It seems hard to imagine so I posted an unboxing on my Tiktok account. Click here to watch.
This retails for Php 595 ($12) for 55ml and Php 694 ($14) for 100ml on Shopee. With only Php 100 ($ 2) price difference, I would purchase the 100ml. For me, the price is quite reasonable—I actually think it's a steal! You can click here to check it out on Shopee.
SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule Mask (5 each)
I use this ampoule mask once a week after using an exfoliating mask: The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2%. Similar to The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution, their AHA + BHA mask always left my skin red, irritated, and very itchy.
I usually leave this in the freezer for around 10 minutes before using the mask to make it cold which helps with soothing the skin. Upon application, I feel a slight tingling which disappears after around a minute. I leave this on my skin for around 15 minutes and leave the solution on my skin to absorb. After using, my skin definitely looks less irritated and calmer—although my skin was still slightly red and itchy, it was bearable.
This retails for Php 702 ($14) for 5 masks already which is around Php 140 ($3) per mask. Honestly, I think it's too expensive, especially for the Philippine market. I think that there are cheaper alternatives out there which would work better. You can click here to check this item out on Shopee
Overall, I'm really satisfied with the products I received—they significantly improved my skin and I would most definitely purchase the ampoule when I run out. As for the sheet masks, I don't think I would repurchase due to the price. I just don't think that the price is reasonable.
